11th Annual Program Hopes to Distribute More Than 51,000 Brand-new Winter Coats to Area Kids
East Norriton, Pa., Sept. 7, 2018 – Approximately 180 franchised new car and truck dealers in the Greater Philadelphia region have teamed up for the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation’s 11th annual Driving Away the Cold program.
The program has one simple mission—to provide brand-new winter coats to area children who need them most. The 180 Driving Away the Cold dealer participants do this by donating a new winter coat to a child in need each time a vehicle is sold during the month of September. Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 315,000 brand-new winter coats have been distributed. With help from its participating dealerships, the Foundation hopes to distribute an additional 51,000 new winter coats this fall, which would be the largest donation given to date.
All pledged coats will be distributed to children in the five-county Philadelphia area in October and November. They will be distributed using a network of approximately 220 YMCAs, social service agencies, school districts, homeless shelters and other non-profit agencies across the greater Philadelphia area.
